I have announced my retirement to begin August 1, 2009 . After 31 years as a superintendent and 46 years in the field of public education- I think it is time to step aside and look for other ways to serve.

When the Choir Began to Sing sessions:

I led a group book discussion at the October 15th, 2005 meeting of Educational Insights in Sedona, AZ.

I was honored to be the keynote speaker and use some of the ideas found in When the Choir Began to Sing  at the 2003 OELMA state conference.  Their issues surround ideas relating to attempts to deal with change and untapped leadership:

My keynote address was given at the OELMA Annual Conference, Friday, October 17, 2003.

The session used When the Choir Began to Sing as the basis for a workshop presentation following the larger address.  The focus for such a workshop is  upon:

  • untapped leadership
  • waiting for others to save us
  • the various elements of change
  • recognizing the value of talents and contribution

I will attempt to keep this up-to-date
as much as possible.

"When the Choir Began to Sing."  is now available!  There is a complete staff development program to accompany this work.  You might find it useful for your organization.  To read more and/or order your copy, click here.

One of my strongest beliefs about the potential for leadership rests upon the leaders ability and willingness to assist their organization find and develop it's "compelling story." If you would like to discuss this in greater detail please contact me and we can discuss what this might mean for you and your organization.

My youngest daughter, Jen, and I were able to get together at the OELMA conference.  We also had a chance to do a few book signings following the presentation.
